Gemma of GG Jewellery is a graduate of the Peter Minturn Goldsmith School in Auckland (2010). Gemma immediately moved to work in the jewellery industry for one of New Zealand's largest remaining jewellery manufacturers.
In 2015 Gemma returned to New Zealand after working in the U.K. for two years where she added to her skill-set as a maker and has now set up in Wellington in association with Workspace Studios and The Makers.
GG Jewellery creates using traditional handmaking techniques which often includes recycling precious metal and gold in-house or at one of two domestic metal refineries. This ensures each piece is made with thought for our environment and it's people as 80% of the 'new' metal comes from a recycled source. Gemma often uses re-purposed stones or stones sourced from New Zealand based distributors who follow procedures to ensure we use only the best.
Gemma draws from experience and traditional jewellery making techniques to specialise in remodelling your existing gold and silver jewellery by Re-Smithing your precious metal and re-designing the setting for your precious stones into something you want to wear today. This Re-Smithing process can begin by getting in touch or by uploading an image of an existing piece or pieces of jewellery for Gemma.
